Last year, some 4.2 million travelers from the United Kingdom visited the United States , spending more than $13.3 billion, or $3,200 per person. Two thirds of the U.K. visitors came to the U.S. on vacation and one third used a travel agency as an information source to plan the trip. A 23% increase in U.K. arrivals is projected by 2011. The number of exhibitor invitees who attended WTM 2009 increased to more than 8,000 (8,062) and total attendance was 45,571. Trade visitors accounted for 24,402. A total of 5,121 Exhibitors from 187 different countries and regions around the world exhibited at World Travel Market 2009.
Furthermore, there were 91 events, conferences, seminars, presentations and debates on the latest industry trends and developments.

Over 200 U.S. Exhibitors used the opportunity to meet face to face with the U.K. market's and the world's premier buyers and trade media by exhibiting at WTM 2009, making it the single largest U.S. promotional event in the U.K. and one of the largest gatherings of the U.S. travel and tourism industry in the world. |
