The Trade Show for the Asia-Pacific Travel Market
ITB Asia, the 3-day B2B trade show and convention, is the premier meeting place in the Asian travel trade, forum for networking and business, guaranteeing high-quality customer contacts.
ITB Asia is both a "horizontal" marketplace for travel products and a "vertical" one for the travel industry. It features the full range of travel destinations, products and services for the leisure markets as well as for business and MICE travel.
ITB Asia attracts high-ranking professionals with decision-making and buying powers and shows a steady increase in the number of exhibitors and visitors.
ITB Asia is organized by Messe Berlin, organizer of ITB Berlin, the world's leading travel trade show, with over 40 successful years of experience in the travel trade show business.
ITB Asia 2009 - Closing Report
The 2nd ITB Asia in Singapore attracted 6,149 attendees compared to 6,208 last year. Messe Berlin (Singapore) Director, Dr Martin Buck, commented: “The result is solid considering the nature of 2009. The performance is a strong base which promises real growth in 2010.”
While the number of exhibiting organizations increased to 679 compared to 651 the previous year, the exhibitors sent fewer representatives.
Invited buyers declined from 812 last year to 553 as Messe Berlin (Singapore) implemented higher vetting standards. It was a policy that paid off.
Messe Berlin (Singapore) introduced one-day trade visitor passes for the first time in 2009 and many trade visitors took advantage of it as it gave show floor access for only US$50. Trade visitor attendance on the last day rose 52% compared to 2008.
A preliminary on-site trade visitor survey conducted by a market research company, showed that overall trade visitor approval for 2009 show was 80.2%. Some 85.6% of trade visitors said they would recommend ITB Asia to colleagues and business partners. In the survey, 87.2% said they would attend ITB Asia next year.
Charlie De Lorme, Director Economic Development & Visitor Services, Utah Office & Tourism: “We have interest from Singapore, India, Korea, Russia, China and Australia. We are very pleased with the quality of the leads and contacts, especially from the MICE segment. In fact, we forwarded some inquiries to our suppliers in Utah and they are already in touch with these contacts.” |
